K is for KARAOKE.

The only person who's into karaoke is the hubby, so when he's at home practicing, we need earplugs! Actually he's a good singer, he used to be a wedding singer when he was young. Just that we are not into karaoke-ing.

EMPS # 83- Your Favorite Things

" EMPS #83: YOUR FAVORITE THINGS.
You know that song "A Few Of My Favorite Things" from The Sound Of Music, well, the other day I had it stuck in my head so I thought it would make a good subject for this week's photo shoot assignment. Simply grab your camera and show us YOUR FAVORITE THINGS. Raindrops on roses or whiskers on kittens work, as do bright copper kettles or warm woolen mittens. It's all up to you. Maybe you just love whipped cream on hot chocolate, if so, show us. Or perhaps you prefer something much more modern... like your iPhone. If so, cool! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

This Samsung Omnia is actually a hand-me-down from my younger son. He used it for just a few months and already eyeing for another newer model. I gladly accept his old phone with no complaint. :)

Round Robin Challenge: Up to 5 miles away

The task for to take a ride in any direction , travel for 5 miles   (8.04672 km), and take photos around there. I went to a friend's place for lunch and decided to take that 5 miles ride from there to a brother in law's house which is approximately 5 miles away, I think. His house is just next to a small lake which I wish I had more time to explore the little park next to it, as I need to rush back home.

Great place to burn some extra calories or just to enjoy the beautiful view there.

I love looking up at the trees there.

Almost nearer to home, I saw the fire engine on a roadside, probably clearing some oil spill there after an accident.Got to make the road safer to the other motorist.

Friday My Town Shoot Out : Bridges

This week theme is Bridges and it's the first assignment in black and white.

Bridge of a ferry, that stops by St John Island from mainland Singapore.

Anderson Bridge, across the Singapore River. It's built in 1910 and still being used now but less traffic there ever since the Benjamin Sheares Bridge was built over the water.

Pedestrian bridge across a river in Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.

A hanging bridge in Sentosa Island, linking to another part of the beach.

Walk slowly, as the bridge tend to sway and shake when people walk across it.

Henderson Wave Bridge, 36 meters above the road, linking 2 hills of Mt Faber and Telok Blangah . It's lighted at night and strictly for  pedestrian only.

EMPS # 82- Good bye winter/Hello spring

 " EMPS #82: GOODBYE WINTER/HELLO SPRING
It's a pretty simple one for this week folks... just grab your camera and say GOODBYE WINTER or HELLO SPRING! Show us what you enjoy the most about either season, or maybe even show us a picture that you feel accurately illustrates the changing seasons. If you don't happen to live in a place that experiences great fluxes in the seasons, then simply show us something representational of the season, such as a flower for spring or snow for winter.

Extra Credit: Show me something cold to represent winter or something warm to represent spring."

There's no winter here, it's almost like Spring all year round with temperature in the range of 79- 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Most flowering plants here bloom all year around. But with sudden change of temperature from the long dry spell to the sudden heavy rain, triggered a beautiful sight when the Pink Mempat Tree began shed leaves and  produced mass bloom. It's really an eye catching sight because usually the trees does not mass bloom like this.

The leaves are almost non existence.

But with more rain predicted in the days to come, soon all the flowers will be gone.

The other tree next to the Pink Mempat is the Trumpet tree , and is blooming normally, which is a common sight.
